Solar Panels integrated in Electric Vehicles

with Jonathan Ngiam from VoltShare

Do you know that many Electric Vehicles are already integrated Solar Panels ◼️☀️?

There are EVs with with large Solar Panel that extend beyond the roof. For example the Lightyear has 5m2 solar cells
But there are also more traditional car manufacturers proposing Solar Panels as an option or as a « Range Extender option » such as the Hyundai Ioniq5
Even Tesla has patented a special Solar Panel for their Cybertruck❗️

So? What can we expect from these Solar Panels? How many additional kms? How do they interact with the Battery? Are they reliable? Can the Technology been extended?

This is the subject of our « Ask a Nerd » Ep 5 with Dr Jonathan Ngiam - COO of VoltShare and specialist in Solar Panel 🌞 material

In this Episode, you will learn

▪️What EV on the market and under development are using Solar Panels
▪️How Solar Panels are integrated in the Vehicle
▪️A Review of some existing EVs with Solar Panels: The Sono Motors, the LightYear, the Aptera (for these cars, see also their Aerodynamics in Ep 4)
▪️Material evolution in Solar Panels

Ask a Nerd is a Series of PodCast webinar talking about EV Technologies. You can find a new Episode each 2 weeks on YouTube host by Dr Cecile Pera and Tom Brimble from GreenPlates ZEV
