June 2020 Gigafactories Update:

About 500 GWh annual production capacity for Li-Ion Battery cells announced for Europe, enough to equip approximately 7 million Electric Vehicles

In just 4 months the announced annual productions capacity increased from more than 400 GWh to now almost 500 GWh/a for Europe. How did that happen?

February 2020: SDI Announces to set up second Gigafactory in Goed, Hungary (exact capacity unknown)
March 2020: Inobat IPM announces to set up a 10 GWh/a factory close to Bratislava, Slovakia, SOP 2024
May 2020: Morrow Batteries announces to set up a 32 GWh/a factory in Agder, Norway, SOP 2024
May 2020: AMTE & Britishvolt announce to set up a 35 GWh/a factory in the UK, SOP 2023

Electrification by batteries seems to be the most viable way to enable the energy transition in Europe. Therefore, despite Corona, the demand for batteries continues to grow at rapid pace
