In 2020, EV sales overshot 3 millions cars. Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) share was growing faster compared to full Electric Vehicle (BEV). This could be a sign that EVs finally have been accepted by general public, where wider ranges are needed.

In total the sold Battery capacity grew by 36% for a total worldwide capacity of 152 GWh. Due to the slightly higher share of PHEV in 2020, the average battery capacity became marginal smaller (49 kWh Battery on average)

Interestingly, the average Battery kWh price was about 137 USD / kWh.

The Battery remains a huge cost of EV price as the average battery pack price was about 6700 USD / vehicle.

As European manufacturer, Renault managed to enter the top 3, with the Zoe. Will 2021 Tesla Model 3 again dominate the sales figures or will a contender like the VW ID.3 get the pole position!?
